AFRI-RES Training Package

The comprehensive training programme was fully developed and successfully implemented in collaboration with Industrial Economic Inc and UNECA’s Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) based in Dakar, Senegal. 

The training consisted of three packages:

  1. Training Package 1 (TP1), based on online delivery, focuses on (i) introduction to the AFRI-RES programme, (ii) introduction to climate modelling, and (iii) understanding climate resilience and the management of climate risks;

  2. Training Package 2 (TP2), based on online and in-person delivery, focuses on the integration of climate resilience in investments in key sectors – agriculture, energy, water, transport, ecosystems, and cities; and

  3. Training Package 3 (TP3), based on online delivery, focuses on (i) communicating climate change and resilience, and (ii) understanding climate finance.

Over 290 French and English-speaking individuals (100 female and 191 male) enrolled for the AFRI-RES training programme from across Africa.

About 70 participants completed over 50% of the training programme, while 52 of them ) successfully completed the full training covering all three training packages.

The in-person training component of TP2 was delivered at IDEP 10 - 12 October 2022.
