The republic of Angola is located on the west-central coast of Southern Africa. It is the second-largest Lusophone nation in terms of total area and population, and the seventh-largest nation in Africa. It is bordered to the south by Namibia, to the north by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the east by Zambia, and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Angola has an exclave province (Cabinda) bordering both the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Luanda is the nation's capital and most populous metropolis.
