In Africa, the lack of bankable initiatives remains a significant bottleneck. Closing the infrastructure divide on the continent in the face of a changing future that is increasingly difficult to predict due to climate change and variability is difficult and expensive.
This AFRI-RES component is bridging this gap by assisting project developers in drafting terms of reference that include specifications for incorporating climate risk management actions into the structuring of public-private partnership agreements and contracts. The facility may also provide additional incremental financing to supplement project preparation resources in order to cover the extra costs associated with incorporating climate change considerations into project design.
